Anthony Eggert was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2010 to serve as Commissioner to the California Energy Commission where he oversees the committees on energy efficiency, transportation, climate change and federal stimulus. Prior to the commission, Anthony served as Senior Advisor to Mary Nichols, Chair of the California Air Resources Board where he worked on implementation of energy and environmental policy including the Global Warming Solutions Act (AB32). Prior to ARB, Anthony served as advisor on energy and climate policy to the Office of Federal Governmental Relations for the University of California Office of the President and the California Governor’s office in Washington DC. From 2002 to 2006, Anthony was associate research director at the University of California, Davis Institute of Transportation Studies where he managed a $1 million research program evaluating the technical, environmental, business, and policy issues associated with a transition to low-carbon fuels and vehicles. Anthony started his professional career as a project engineer at the Ford Motor Company Vehicle Environmental Engineering division in 1996 and eventually went on to manage Ford’s California Fuel Cell Partnership office through 2002. Anthony serves on the board of the University of California Energy Institute at Haas and as technical advisor to the Department of Energy. He has presented at more than 50 national and international conferences, testified to Congress, and has received recognition from the National Academies, US Department of Energy, US Department of Transportation, and National Science Foundation. Anthony earned a Master of Science degree in Transportation Technology and Policy from the University of California, Davis and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
