Dave Szczupak joined Whirlpool Corporation in July of 2008 as executive vice president of the Global Product Organization (GPO). Under his leadership, the GPO organization has begun its next evolution with a bold vision, mission and strategy to deliver Product Leadership in every region and product category.
This 5000 person organization drives consumer-focused innovation and quality and through the functions of global product design, development, innovation and strategic sourcing for Whirlpool across the globe.
Dave joined Whirlpool after serving as chief operating officer of Dura Automotive Systems in Rochester Hills, Mich., a $2 billion, 15,000-employee international automotive supplier. There he provided strategic direction for product development, purchasing, manufacturing and quality.
Before joining Dura in 2006, he worked for Ford Motor Company for 22 years in various leadership roles. As vice president, Powertrain Operations, Szczupak led a transformation of Ford’s automatic transmissions to world-class status. He also led a rationalization effort for Ford’s global engine and transmission lineups, providing governance for their architecture and technology. Later, as group vice president, Manufacturing, he spearheaded an initiative to improve quality, achieving a 22 percent improvement in overall quality metrics while driving lean world-class competitiveness.
Szczupak also worked for Jaguar Cars for five years before it was acquired by Ford in 1990.
Szczupak has a master’s degree in automotive engineering from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom.
