Fall internship: Finance and Administration

Part-time (minimum 20 hours/week) or full time (40 hours/week); if part-time, a consistent schedule will be determined prior to starting work; Paid: $12.50/hour from September, 2017 to mid-December, 2017.

As a nonprofit organization, the Alliance to Save Energy receives funding from various sources: companies, foundations and government (federal/state/local). The Intern will become familiar with the workings of a nonprofit finance department and assist with ensuring that the day-to-day finance tasks are completed in a timely manner. The Intern will also assist with other responsibilities of the Operations department, including human resources and facilities.

Intern’s primary duties:

·       Assist with general accounting (filing, entry level processing) 

·       Copy and scan financial documents 

·       Assist with cash receipts entry 

·       Assist with grants/contracts transactions

·       Address vendor inquiries 

·       Maintain accounts payable files 

·       Enter accounts payable vouchers 

·       Open/process mail 

·       Verify signatures on documents (grants, contracts, staff sign-off forms, etc) 

·       Coordinate charitable registration filings with the states

·       Assist with other human resources and facilities matters, as needed

·       Assist with front desk reception (welcome guests, accept packages)

·       Answer main line phone calls (transfer calls to appropriate staff, answer caller questions about org.)

Desired skills/qualifications:

·       Excellent communication skills (oral and written)

·       Ability to represent the organization at events or on errands

·       Obtained or Obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or Business Administration 

·       MS Excel skills highly valued; database skills a plus 

·       Willingness to learn and help others on the staff 

·       Pleasant disposition and willing to take on any task
