As Director of Media Relations for the Alliance to Save Energy, which she joined in January 2002, Ronnie Kweller secures media coverage of the Alliance and energy efficiency to help U.S. consumers reduce their energy bills and to help the Alliance achieve its public policy objectives.
During her tenure, the Alliance has been featured and Alliance spokespersons quoted in national, regional, and local media, including such prestigious national outlets as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, U.S. News & World Report, Newsweek, Business Week, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, and National Public Radio. In addition to arranging media interviews with Alliance spokespersons, Kweller herself frequently does interviews on consumer issues with TV and radio networks, local TV and radio stations, and daily newspapers around the country.
Kweller plays a principal role in the Alliance’s strategic home energy campaigns, which help consumers save energy at home and on the road, build awareness of energy efficiency and the Energy Star label, and help reduce the nation’s overall energy use. She also has worked on summer electricity reliability campaigns of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), an Alliance Associate. These campaigns contribute to electricity reliability during the peak summer cooling season.
Prior to joining the Alliance, Kweller worked for two niche public relations firms and did communications and public policy work for nonprofit organizations in Washington, DC. She worked as a reporter/editor for the Bureau of National Affairs and began her journalism career at the old Washington Evening Star.
A Washington, .D.C, native, Kweller has a B.S. from Cornell University and a M.S. from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
