The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) is the association of U.S. shareholder-owned electric companies. Our U.S. members serve 95% of the ultimate customers in the shareholder-owned segment of the industry, and represents approximately 70% of the U.S. electric power industry. We also have as Affiliate members more than 65 international electric companies, and as Associate members more than 170 industry suppliers and related organizations.
To represent and advance member interests, EEI provides advocacy, authoritative analysis, and critical industry data to its members, Congress, government agencies, the financial community, and other opinion-leader audiences; provides forums for member companies to discuss issues and strategies to advance the industry and to ensure a competitive position in a changing marketplace; and assists the industry with both short-term challenges and strategic planning regarding the structure, regulation and environmental compliance efforts, financial health and economic policies, and competitiveness of the electric industry.
