Welcome to the Kitchen!
The Armstrong floor materials in this picture were specifically selected for their recycled and rapidly renewable resource content. The use of rapidly renewable content materials contributes credit towards LEED Certification.
Our kitchen cabinets are made of another rapidly renewable content material called wheat board. Wheat board is made from a straw waste product, available after each year’s wheat harvest. Bales of wheat straw are milled into fine particles, sorted, dried, and then bound together with a formaldehyde-free resin. The particles are then hot pressed into sheets of varying thickness.
Whirlpool donated an ENERGY STAR refrigerator and dishwasher, as well as a microwave. Microwaves do not currently have an ENERGY STAR rating.
