Special Events Internship

The Alliance to Save Energy is hiring a full-time Special Events Intern to start in mid-April 2008 at its headquarters in Washington, D.C. The internship is paid and accompanied by a monthly WMATA transportation stipend. The Special Events intern will be involved in the preparation for the Alliance’s 2008 Great Energy Efficiency Day, awards dinner, and international energy efficiency conference.
We are hoping to hire a recent graduate as the internship may turn into a full time position in the fall.
Specific duties include:
Aid with event registration activities including sending attendee communications, maintaining attendee lists, and facilitating on-site registration.
Assist with agenda development for Alliance events including issuance of speaker invitations, securing confirmations, and speaker database maintenance.
Compile information packets for event speakers and participants.
Support follow-up activities for all major events including issuing thank you letters, updating contact lists, and compiling evaluation reports.
Research and compile a database of potential sponsors and exhibitors for the Energy Efficiency Global Forum & Exposition and Alliance events.
Participate in and assist in preparations for ASE International Committee meetings.
Trouble-shooting tasks that may involve writing or editing letters and other documents, arranging travel plans, other administrative support, etc.
Special Events Intern will participate in:
2008 Great Energy Efficiency Debate
ASE International Committee meetings.
The Alliance encourages interns to seek out and attend interesting energy or environment-related seminars, hearings, and brown bag lunches.
A qualified intern must possess:
organizational skills
a strong work ethic
excellent writing skills
ability to focus on details
independence in undertaking tasks and ability to multi-task
ability to work freely with Microsoft Office programs
interest in event planning
interest in the environment & energy is preferred but not required
