Aleisha Khan, Executive Director

Building Codes Assistance Project

Aleisha joined BCAP in December 2006. She directs BCAP activity aimed at the adoption, implementation, and advancement of building energy codes around the country. BCAP is a joint project of the Alliance to Save Energy, the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE), and the National Resource Defense Council (NRDC). As a non-profit advocacy group, BCAP assists states and local jurisdictions in enacting and implementing strong and effective building energy codes through advocacy, technical assistance, outreach programs and coalition building efforts.

Previous to BCAP, Aleisha worked as the east coast senior program manager for Portland Energy Conservation Inc. (PECI) – a pioneering non-profit in the field of commercial building commissioning. In this capacity, she ran technical programs for utilities and states, as well as managed research and pilot projects to improve building operations and maintenance. Aleisha also spent time consulting for US EPA’s ENERGY STAR commercial buildings program – working with states and utility programs in the northwest and California. In 2000, Aleisha served as the Director for the Institute for Market Transformation – conducting work in the areas of commercial and multi-family property valuation for energy efficiency, health-care building commissioning, Real Estate Investment Trusts, and international energy codes. Aleisha holds bachelor and masters degrees in Architecture from the University of Illinois and a masters in resource economics and policy from Duke University.
