The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy is soliciting input on your ideas on the scope of a solicitation for $10 billion in loan guarantees that will encourage the development of improved renewable energy, energy efficiency, and related transmission technologies in the U.S. A public meeting is planned at DOE’s headquarters for April 23, and responses are due by May 2. More information can be found on DOE's Loan Guarantee Program web site. DOE’s plan to authorize $10 billion in load guarantees is pursuant to Title XVII of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Through these loan guarantees, DOE will encourage the early adoption of innovative and new technologies in energy projects. This Request For Information is an opportunity for companies to tell DOE the types of technologies or projects they feel should be addressed by the loan guarantees. DOE is particularly interested in commercially viable projects that have been demonstrated or piloted, but are not yet widely deployed. The eligible technologies must be installed in no more than three commercial projects in the U.S., and be in operation for five years or less. |
