2007 was for energy advocates everywhere a historic year, marked by the passage of legislation that is expected to save more energy than any measure enacted into law in the past three decades. But EISA was just one of many victories experienced in 2007: the enclosed report tells of our effective home energy efficiency makeovers, our determined campaigns for better building codes, our ever-expanding international network, and our growing Associates Program. If anything, 2007 prepared us for the very successful year we are now about to close and will serve as a prescient context for the next publication we will be sending you, a year-end review of 2008!
And our work continues. In January, a new Administration and Congress plan to tackle our country’s economic woes, and we are working to insure that energy efficiency is advanced by the government not only to help repair and rebuild our economy, but also to insure that we begin – immediately and determinedly – to become the most energy-efficient economy in the world. We look forward to working with you, and learning from you, in the year ahead.
