Greening the Campus, Building the Workforce

The Alliance to Save Energy's 2009 Green Campus Energy Efficiency Summit was held at UC Irvine, beginning with an Intern banquet on Saturday, January 24; followed by a day’s worth of trainings and planning sessions with evening stakeholder reception on Sunday, January 25th; and culminating in a best practices showcase, presentations on energy and energy efficiency, and stakeholder planning sessions on Monday, January 26th.
The Green Campus Program builds effective partnerships between students, staff, administrators and faculty around the common goal of improving campus energy efficiency. The 2009 Energy Efficiency Summit convened a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and administrators from more than 13 California State Universities, University of California campuses, private institutions and others. Summit attendees found valuable networking opportunities, presentations of best practices, structured campus planning sessions and high caliber speakers. Attendees left the summit with a deeper knowledge of the current state of, and next steps for, energy and energy efficiency issues as they pertain to campus communities and the environment.
