On Friday, December 19, Kateri Callahan, president, Alliance to Save Energy, participated in a news conference at the National Press Club with Tom Kuhn, president, Edison Electric Institute; Peter Lehner, executive director, Natural Resources Defense Council; and Reid Detchon, executive director, Energy Future Coalition, to present a package of proposals for stimulating the U.S. economy and creating green jobs while making the nation more energy efficient.

Among the proposed energy efficiency recommendations were weatherizing low-income homes; retrofitting existing homes and commercial buildings; increasing the energy efficiency of government buildings; strengthening model building energy codes; enhancing energy efficiency standards for appliances and equipments; funding Energy Efficiency Grants to state governments; and extending and enhancing existing residential and commercial federal energy efficiency tax incentives.
A full list of the energy efficiency and economic recovery recommendations is available. These recommendations are a “work in progress” and will be refined somewhat over the coming weeks as we meet with representatives of the Presidential transition teams and Members of Congress to advocate for our recommendations.
