For over 30 years, the Alliance has been promoting energy efficiency as a proven way to create jobs, to save money for consumers, and to address our critical energy and climate challenges.
Thank you for your support, and warm wishes for the Holiday season!

Energizing the Economy
An economic stimulus package is certain to be one of the first priorities of the new Congress. Will energy be a key ingredient, and if so, to what extent? The Alliance to Save Energy and its allies have asserted that good energy policies – particularly those promoting energy efficiency – can kick the economy back into gear. Here's how.
The Alliance is promoting energy efficiency's important role in economic stimulus on a number of fronts. On Friday, December 19, Alliance President Kateri Callahan participated in a news conference to present a package of proposals for stimulating the U.S. economy and creating green jobs while making the nation more energy efficient. The event was a joint initiative between the Alliance, the Edison Electric Institute, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and the Energy Future Coalition.

Winner of Alliance Home Energy Efficiency Makeover Contest Continues to Enjoy an Energy-Efficient Home
Cathy Clites and her three-generational family of nine didn't expect a more energy-efficient, money-saving holiday season this year. But the winners of last year's Nationwide Home Energy Efficiency Makeover contest received the good news last month, when a follow-up energy audit performed by the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources revealed that this Baton Rouge household is now 36% more energy efficient, thanks to new windows and a variety of other home energy improvements.

Energy Hog Goes to North Dakota
The Energy Hog is heading north – to North Dakota, that is. Here he will entertain some 4,000 school children with antics that teach the importance of saving energy. According to the Office of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in the North Dakota Department of Commerce, the program's funder, this is a lesson that all North Dakotans can benefit from. Read more about the Energy Hog in North Dakota.

The Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) Tackles Energy Poverty
Poverty alleviation. Healthcare. Economic development. Though less likely to be associated with the topic of energy than the buzzwords "climate change" and "energy security", these issues are ultimately affected by energy access – or lack thereof – in many developing countries. The Alliance to Save Energy is the North American Secretariat of the Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP), an organization implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy through development projects worldwide to bring rural and urban communities out of energy poverty. Read more on REEEP tackling energy poverty.

The EE Glossary: Energy Efficiency vs. Energy Conservation
A recent survey by the Shelton Group found that, while a significant majority of respondents (74%) has a positive view of “energy conservation,” an overwhelming proportion (88%) has a favorable view of energy efficiency! The difference between these numbers indicates that the public recognizes that energy efficiency and energy conservation are not the same thing. In that case – what are they? How are they related, and can they work in tandem?
