“Save money. Live Better.” As its logo shows, Wal-Mart prides itself on being able to help its customers stretch a buck. Now, this Alliance Associate and retail giant is getting consumers to stretch their commitment to sustainability, all with the inauguration of its innovative Earth Month campaign.
Each year, April 22 is celebrated around the world as Earth Day. Hereby declaring April Earth Month, Wal-Mart has ramped up its efforts to promote environmentally friendly products, behavior and information for its customers. “This is the time to save money and save the planet – two goals that work together,” says Matt Kistler, senior vice president of Sustainability.
With sales on exclusive green products, a “green” advertising campaign and an online forum where consumers can share tips on saving money, energy, waste and the planet, Wal-Mart is helping consumers who are cost-conscious year-round realize that they can be eco-conscious at the same time.
