On September 14, Executive Vice President for Programs Brian Castelli keynoted the Riso International Energy Conference 2009 at the Technical University of Denmark, where he addressed the role of energy efficiency in reducing greenhouse gases (GHG).
Titled "Energy Solutions for CO2 Emission Peak and Subsequent Design", the conference explored market perspectives and realistic contributions of new technologies developed to achieve ambitious international GHG reduction targets.
The first day of the conference focused primarily on policy issues, scenarios and mechanisms that necessary to meet those targets. Castelli's opening session keynote on energy efficiency policy options was well received by attendees.
The international and diverse group was comprised of corporate officials, embassy representatives, utility executives, scientists, research professors, IPCC members and others involved in clean and efficient energy issues. They gathered to explore ways to (1) replicate policy and program models that would lead to lowering greenhouse gases, and (2) learn about new technologies being developed to acheive the same.
