This week, we expect passage of the FY10 Energy and Water Appropriations conference report. Passed by the House on October 1, this funding bill is expected to be signed by the President.
The conference report includes increases to many energy efficiency programs within the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), continuing the trend toward investments in and deployment of existing and emerging technologies. The conference agreement included $2.2 billion for DOE’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy programs, up from $1.9 billion appropriated for FY09.
In a year where many programs have been cut and the economic recovery bill has been passed, passage of this funding bill will demonstrate that energy efficiency programs remain a top priority of the Administration and Congress.
