November 4, 2009 – The Zero Energy Commercial Buildings Consortium (the Consortium) will host an inaugural webinar on December 3, 2009 from 2 – 3:30 p.m. EST.
Led by a steering committee representing prominent national industry, non-profit and public organizations, the Consortium was formally launched in 2009 as the outgrowth of a multi-year organizing effort.
As part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Commercial Buildings Initiative efforts, the Consortium collaborates with DOE to accelerate technology innovation, process change and market transformation to advance zero energy performance in new and existing commercial buildings.
Major milestones include achieving zero net energy buildings in:
- New commercial buildings by 2030;
- Fifty percent of all commercial building stock by 2040; and
- All commercial buildings by 2050.
Membership
Membership to the Consortium is open to everyone; there is no cost to join. Active Consortium members participate and contribute through thirteen different working groups, the goals of which are to collaborate with industry partners and stakeholders; conduct a technologies assessment; and perform a cost and non-cost barriers analysis.
