The preferred candidate will be familiar in breadth and depth with industrial energy efficiency technologies, practices, and programs, based on extensive private sector work experience in industry, in a management, technical, policy, and/or marketing role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning and carrying out industry energy efficiency projects;
  • Securing funding for ongoing and new initiatives;
  • Tracking the status of deliverables and expenditures on Industry Team projects, and working with Team members to assure timely, on-budget delivery of high-quality products;
  • Recruiting, mentoring, and directing the activities of staff on the Alliance’s Industry Team;

  • Establishing or strengthening partnership relationships with other public, private, and NGO organizations; and
  • Other related duties as required.

Requirements

The position of Industry Program Director requires extensive contact with senior executives in industrial firms and organizations as well as senior government officials, and others. The individual selected must have demonstrated skills in dealing with public and private sector executives, and outstanding verbal and written communications skills.

The successful candidate for this position will have a proven ability to formulate, secure funding for, and lead innovative, complex projects to their successful conclusion – along with the ability to build an effective team and to work well across organizational lines.

A Bachelors degree in a relevant field and several years of increasingly responsible experience are a minimum requirement; a graduate degree in management, business, engineering, economics, public policy, or a related field is preferred.

Salary is competitive based upon experience.  The Alliance to Save Energy offers a generous benefits package and a stimulating work environment in downtown Washington DC convenient to Metro.  Consideration of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
