For Immediate Release

Washington, D.C, September 2009 – Are you a race car or auto enthusiast who’s looking for a new adventure?  If you are handy with a video camera, whether on a road trip or in your driveway, you can get a shot at winning an exciting, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Imagine yourself zipping around a famous Indy Racing League oval, or on a road course circuit, with an experienced, pro driver behind the wheel for a thrilling high-speed ride in an Indy-style, bio ethanol-fueled, two-seater race car!

That's just one of the tempting prizes in the Drive $marter Challenge video contest (http://DriveSmarterChallenge.org/contest). All you have to do is create a fun, two-minute video by the September 20 11:59 pm EDT deadline illustrating one or more of the Drive $marter Challenge campaign's fuel efficiency driving and vehicle maintenance road trip tips (http://drivesmarterchallenge.org/money-saving-tips/Default.aspx).

Prizes also include a $5,000 grand prize, VIP NASCAR and Indy race packages, and a transportation package including new tires and memberships in AAA and the Silver Spoke League of American Bicyclists.

And the first 80 entrants whose videos meet the contest criteria will receive a $25 ExxonMobil Gift Card and a Car Care Council Car Care Guide.

Just grab your video, digital, or cell phone camera and start shooting, because the odds of winning a video contest are very high, according to contest expert Sandra Grauschopfs step-by-step article, "How To Win Video Contests - Tips to Create Contest-Winning Videos" on about.com (http://contests.about.com/od/winningcontests/ht/winvideocontest.htm).

To assemble creative entries, Drive Smarter Challenge video contest entrants can use a host of downloadable video, images, and audio elements from the Drive Smarter Challenge broadband media web site -- http://drivesmarterchallenge.org/broadband. To enter, submit a video of two minutes or less that illustrates one or more of the Drive Smarter Challenge gas- and money-saving driving and vehicle maintenance tips.

To enter the contest:

Only one entry per person and you must be at least 18 to compete.

Prizes were provided by ExxonMobil Lubricants and Specialties, NASCAR, Bryan Herta Autosport, the Rubber Manufacturers Association’s Be Tire Smart, Michelin, the League of American Bicyclists, and the Car Care Council.

The online video contest is the latest feature of the award-winning Drive Smarter Challenge fuel-efficiency campaign (www.drivesmarterchallenge.org) sponsored by the Alliance to Save Energy (www.ase.org) and 16 other diverse nonprofit, governmental, trade association, and for-profit partners.

The 17 Drive Smarter Challenge campaign partners include the Alliance to Save Energy, American Petroleum Institute, American Public Transportation Association, Brian Herta Autosport, Car Care Council, Citizens for Affordable Energy, Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, ExxonMobil, Green Solutions Magazine, League of American Bicyclists, NASCAR, National Association of Counties, National Association of State Energy Officials, National Independent Auto Dealers Association, National Fuel Funds Network, National Low Income Energy Consortium, and Rubber Manufacturers Association’s Be Tire Smart.

Along with encouraging consumers to exercise their creativity, the video contest will further the fuel-efficiency campaign’s goals of helping drivers save money at the gas pump by driving smarter, properly maintaining their vehicles, and driving fewer miles by combining errands, biking, telecommuting, walking, carpooling, or taking public transit.
