Jacob L. McCurdy, Majority Professional Staff Member, Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources
Jacob L. McCurdy has served at the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources for Chairman Murkowski since March 2020. Prior to joining the Committee, he served at the Department of Energy for three years in the Office of Congressional Affairs and the Office of Electricity. During his time at the Department, he led the Senate nominations process, working to confirm numerous Departmental nominees. He also led the interagency coordination process for the Office of Electricity’s defense critical electric infrastructure (DCEI) initiative as well as provided strategic guidance on the Executive Order on Securing the United States Bulk Power System, which was issued in May 2020.
Prior to joining the Department, Mr. McCurdy worked in the Senate as a program assistant focusing on environmental and energy policy and research. Prior to that, he was an account manager for an educational software company.
Mr. McCurdy graduated Cum Laude from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science in December 2014.
Brie Van Cleve, Senior Energy Policy Advisor and Energy Team Lead, U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources
Brie Van Cleve is staff to the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources serving Ranking Member Senator Joe Manchin in his Washington, DC office. In that role, Brie leads the Committee’s energy team and advises Senator Manchin and the members of the Committee on energy policy issues relating to the electric grid, energy research and innovation, and clean energy. Prior to joining the Committee staff, Brie worked at the Department of Energy and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, one of DOE’s 17 national labs.
Originally from rural Washington state, Brie began her career working for her home state Senator on marine and environmental policy followed by a stint working for county government and another working for Washington State Department of State Fish and Wildlife.
Brie holds a Master’s degree from the University of Washington in marine policy and a Bachelor’s degree from Smith College in biological sciences. Brie, her husband, and their 2 year old daughter live in Washington, DC.
Bob Keefe, Executive Director, E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs)
Bob Keefe is executive director of E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs) a national, nonpartisan group of business owners, investors and other professionals who advocate for policies that are good for our economy and good for our environment. As executive director, Bob oversees E2’s team of federal and state advocates and other staff who in turn work with the organization’s 8,000 members and supporters across nine E2 chapters stretching from New York and New England to Seattle and San Diego. Prior to joining E2 in 2011, Bob spent more than 20 years as a political, business and environmental journalist, most recently as the chief Washington correspondent for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and as a California-based national reporter for Cox Newspapers/Cox News Service. Bob also co-founded a technology news Web site and has co-authored or edited several business-related books. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Kevin B. Self, SVP of Strategy, Business Development & Government Relations, Schneider Electric
As a member of Schneider Electric’s North America Executive Leadership Team, Kevin is responsible for the development and execution of a winning strategy to drivesprofitable growth across all lines of business in alignment with Schneider Electric’s Life Is On corporate brand.
Kevin is responsible for leading the overall North America strategy development process; leading the Smart Cities efforts; developing and maximizing government relationships at state and federal levels; and identifying inorganic growth opportunities.
Kevin previously held Strategy & Corporate Development roles with Johnson Controls’ Building Efficiency Business, Miller Brewing Company, GE Healthcare, and McKinsey & Company. Kevin holds an MBA from Northwestern University, and MS and BS degrees in engineering from The University of Michigan.
Michael Bushey, Director, Customer Programs and Services, Southern California Edison
Mike Bushey has held multiple executive positions in SCE’s Customer Service Organizational Unit. In each role, he has led organizations responsible for delivering diverse customer program portfolios exceeding $400M a year and Local Capacity Resource contracts valued well over $1 Billion, as well as managing complex customer care and program solutions for SCE’s 5.1 million customers. In Mike’s 27 years of experience in the regulated and unregulated energy industry, he has held various leadership positions in Business Development & Account Management, Economic Development, Customer Service Operations; and individual contributor roles in Regulatory and Case Management, Project Management, and Transmission and Distribution.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Arizona State University and a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of California, Irvine.
Curt Rich, President and CEO, North American Insulation Manufacturers Association
As President and CEO of the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA), which represents the $8 billion U.S. fiber glass and mineral wool insulation industry, Curt oversees all activities relating to the promotion of fiber glass and mineral wool insulation to all key stakeholders including policymakers, code officials, building industry professionals and consumers. In addition, he champions policies and legislation that encourage the use of insulation to increase energy efficiency and sustainability. Curt sits on the boards of the Alliance to Save Energy, Business Council for Sustainable Energy and RESNET. Curt holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Whitman College and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Montana.
