Welcome to the office of Executive Vice President Brian Castelli!
Here we discuss the HVAC system, the commissioning process, and insulation, all of which contribute to the efficiency of our space as well as to our LEED-CI application.
Additional items selected with the LEED process in mind include direct digital controls (DDC) for the heating and air conditioning system supplied and installed by Siemens Building Technologies. These controls vastly improve the operation and performance of the HVAC system.
Here an HVAC technician from Comfort Control Inc. tests for proper airflow from a vent, a process know as testing and balancing. This activity was part of the commissioning process.
Commissioning is the process of testing the installation of the equipment installed during the construction process to ensure that it functions the way it was intended to. This step was an important part of the LEED certification process. Here (left to right) Vestal Tutterow (Alliance) Gene Foley (Advanced Power Control, Inc.) and our commissioning agent Paul Tseng (Advanced Building Performance, Inc.) discuss the commissioning of the lighting system.
Although we were unable to modify the building envelope we did use insulation donated by Owens Corning to add soundproofing throughout the new space.
