Office Tour: LEED-CI Credits

Here we will discuss the aspects of the building which were included in our application for LEED-CI certification. Energy savings gained through our lighting system, HVAC system and efficient appliances are eligible for credits. Here are some other potential credit areas:

LEED-CI offers credits for Materials & Resources and Indoor Environmental Quality. The Alliance application includes credits for low-emitting material—adhesives and sealants, paints and stains, carpeting, and cubicles—as well as for furniture reuse, and recycled content and regionally-manufactured materials

The Alliance applied for credit for diverting more than 50 percent of demolition/construction waste from landfills. In fact, the Alliance recycled four tons of wire, eight tons of ceiling tile, twelve tons of scrap metal, and more than three tons of carpet!

We applied for renewable energy credits through our puchase of green power and are seeking additional Innovation & Design Process credits for doubling the standard green power commitment!

Water credits are available by reducing water use by more than 20 percent, which the Alliance has done using flow-restricting aerators in sinks and showers, and instantaneous hot water heaters.
