Assistant Program Manager
BKi seeks a committed, responsible, and enthusiastic Assistant Program Manager to support the implementation of building energy upgrade programs in Southern California. The Assistant Program Manager will provide an advanced level of support to the Program Manager of BKi’s comprehensive building retrofit programs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience or interest in the energy efficiency field and the desire to address a variety of environmental and public health issues through energy efficiency.
As part of BKi’s new and growing Los Angeles office, the Assistant Program Manager will assist in informing the public about the benefits of energy efficient buildings including environmental soundness, comfort, and economy to operate. This position will report to the Program Manager.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Program Manager will perform the following and other duties as assigned to support BKi’s comprehensive building retrofit programs:
- Execute communication and marketing plans to ensure stakeholder buy-in, inform program design, leverage all available marketing distribution channels, and spread the word about program offerings.
- Formulate, direct, and coordinate marketing activities and policies to promote residential energy retrofit programs, working with marketing consultants and partners.
- Assist in the analysis of local market potential to inform program design and implementation strategies.
- Support the Program Manager in the development of effective management and coordination structures to ensure that all program elements are effectively implemented and program growth continues.
- Actively work with clients, stakeholders, partners, and the public to further program goals.
- Support the development of consumer feedback mechanisms to ensure ongoing program management and enhancement.
- Participate in the organization and delivery of residential and non-residential energy efficiency retrofit activities.
- Provide program support in the areas of program budgets, schedules, document control, reporting, and all aspects relating to successful implementation of regional building retrofit programs.
- Assist in the identification and coordination of relevant funding sources and existing programs with all participating local governments. Examples of funding sources include EECBG and CEC grants.
- Support the development of proposals and grant applications.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related field, and/or relevant experience in a regulated industry (preferably energy efficiency)
- Experience in designing and adapting marketing campaigns to changing environments
- Proven success as a member of a highly effective project or program management team
- Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels in a professional, ethical, and nonpartisan manner
- Proficient organizational and strategic skills
- Experience working with stakeholders and clients from the public and private sectors, and with the general public, strongly preferred
- Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills
- A friendly, outgoing nature and an eagerness to serve clients, partners, and the public interest
- Knowledge of energy efficient design, construction strategies, technologies, and materials, and the ability to articulate the environmental, health, and economic benefits of green building strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Windows operating systems
- Interest in learning more about the energy efficiency field and in applying that knowledge to address a variety of environmental and public health issues
Compensation and Benefits
BKi is seeking someone immediately to fill in during a maternity leave for a period of six months (with the possibility of permanent employment in the future). This is a full-time, temporary, contract position without benefits; the Assistant Program Manager will receive $32/hour.
This position will be located at BKi’s offices in downtown Los Angeles, CA, across the street from the Pershing Square Metro station.
