Alliance to Save Energy Comments on Sec. Chu's Departure

Release Date: Friday, February 1, 2013

Statement from Alliance to Save Energy President Kateri Callahan

"As the principal member of the President’s 'Energy Efficiency Dream Team' announces his imminent departure, the Alliance to Save Energy recognizes and thanks Secretary Steven Chu for the incredible leadership and service that he provided to the American people. From managing federal investments in energy efficiency that spur the economy to driving advancements in technologies that will reap further efficiency gains and energy productivity this century, the Secretary has been a true and effective change agent in driving our country to do more while using less energy.

"We trust the President will fill Secretary Chu’s big shoes with another big thinker and doer on energy efficiency, just as he replaced Secretary of State Clinton with another energy efficiency advocate: John Kerry.

"The Alliance stands ready to work with the new top brass in the Administration and the new Congress. Next week we will be releasing a set of recommendations for action by the public and private sectors that can lead to a doubling of our country’s energy productivity -- twice as much energy bang for the buck – by 2030."
