“The strength of energy efficiency was put on center stage today with the House of Representatives’passage of the Rural Star and Home Star loan programs. The up-front cost of energy-saving investments is one of the greatest barriers to energy efficiency that Americans face. This legislation is an important step in avoiding those barriers and empowering Americans to save money and curb wasteful energy use in their homes by providing lowinterest loans for energy efficiency improvements.
“The House vote is a great example of how, even in an election year, energy efficiency continues to cross the ideological divide and bring both sides of the political spectrum together to pass meaningful and fiscally-responsible energy policy that works on behalf of all Americans.”
