Citi surpassed its goal to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from operations by 10% by 2011 from 2005 levels and has already directed $36.4 billion toward activities that mitigate climate change as part of its 10-year, $50 billion climate initiative announced in 2007. Citi is currently working to achieve the following operational environmental goals by 2015 (all from a 2005 base year): a 25% reduction in absolute GHG emissions, a 40% reduction in waste to landfill, a 20% reduction in water usage and a 20% improvement in portfolio energy efficiency.
