Extension of New Jersey’s PowerSave Schools Program

After a very successful 2017-18 school year, New Jersey Natural Gas and the Alliance to Save Energy have committed to launch the PowerSave Schools (PSS) program into its fourth year in New Jersey. This merger allows 28 schools in three counties across the state to take part in the 2018-2019 program.

The Alliance PowerSave Schools encourages students and faculty to ingrain a culture of sustainability within the school and to take those principles and practices out into the community. PSS teaches about energy saving initiatives, demand management, and energy and sustainability careers, and empowers students with the analytic and leadership skills to address energy and environmental issues within their state and beyond. With programs in California, New Jersey, and Tennessee, PSS is bringing energy literacy to a wide range of communities across the United States.

The extension of New Jersey’s PowerSave Schools Program into the next school year will allow participating schools to delve deeper into their energy saving action plans, more deeply engage their families and community partners, and implement changes within their schools that assist the state of New Jersey to continue to be an environmental trailblazer.
