H.R. 568 – Thermal Insulation Efficiency Improvement Act

The Thermal Insulation Efficiency Improvement Act (H.R. 568) was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Alliance Honorary Board Member Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) on January 27, 2015. Most recently, these provisions were included in Section 3113 of the House’s comprehensive energy bill, the North American Energy Security and Infrastructure Act of 2015 (H.R. 8).

Summary

This bill would require the Secretary of Energy to report the impact of thermal insulation on both energy and water use systems for potable water in federal buildings, as well as the return on investment of installing the insulation. The report would include an analysis on the cost of regional or municipal delivered water, the avoided cost of new water, and a summary of the short- and long-term (20 years) energy and water savings projections.
