State and Local Energy Efficiency Policy Resources

States and localities are leading the way in energy efficiency policies and programs. With so much activity at the state and local level, it can be difficult to keep up with innovative policies and key developments.  This page serves as a compilation of various Alliance as well as outside resources that can help provide a more in-depth look at state-level activity.

Alliance Resources

  • Code Status, from the Building Codes Assistance Project (BCAP), provides an overview of where individual states stand in adopting residential and commercial building codes standards.
  • Energy Efficiency Resource Standard Factsheet provides a map illustrating states that currently have EERS policies in place and gives examples of several state EERS programs.
  • Property Assessed Clean Energy Factsheet provides a map illustrating which states have enacted legislation that enables PACE type financing programs and gives an overview of PACE.
  • Utility Decoupling Mechanisms Factsheet provides a map illustrating which states have adopted utility decoupling mechanisms and gives an overview of utility decoupling.
