45 years ago, the Alliance to Save Energy was established as the nation’s leading energy efficiency advocacy organization. In the decades since, the efficiency movement has succeeded in transforming America’s relationship to its energy needs by saving households thousands of dollars per year on energy bills, reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy security, and creating a robust efficiency industry with 2.1 million jobs. 

But taking action for energy efficiency may be more important today than at any time in our 45-year history. The U.S. is facing a moment of skyrocketing energy prices, economic uncertainty and inequities, and accelerating impacts of climate change.
