Founded in 1977 by two U.S. senators who recognized the enormous opportunity of energy efficiency, the Alliance to Save Energy is a bipartisan, nonprofit coalition of business, government, environmental, and consumer leaders advocating to advance federal energy efficiency policy. Since 1977, we’ve played an integral role in nearly every major energy efficiency policy achievement on the national stage, becoming the leading national voice for efficiency policy.
 

Job Summary:

The Senior Policy Research Analyst is crucial in leading comprehensive research activities across various initiatives, including but not limited to the Energy 2040 agenda. This role involves steering and managing our research direction and initiatives , engaging with key Alliance members and external stakeholders, and influencing policy through strategic insights and advocacy.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage research across all current and future initiatives, setting strategic research objectives that support the Alliance’s mission.
  • Design and implement research projects that deliver impactful insights and recommendations for energy efficiency policy.
  • Prepare detailed analysis, policy briefs, and reports that guide legislative and policy decisions.
  • Translate and provide insights into legislative and regulatory policy around energy efficiency to various members and stakeholder.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including policy makers, congressional representatives, and industry leaders, to advocate for and advance energy efficiency measures.
  • Oversee all aspects of contracted research, including defining project scopes, selecting contractors, and managing deliverables.
  • Supervise and mentor Research Associates and Interns, fostering a collaborative and productive research environment.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on research progress, policy impacts, and strategic recommendations.

Reporting Structure:

This position directly reports to the Associate Vice President of Policy & Research, ensuring close alignment with the organization's strategic goals and policy directions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or PhD in a related field preferred.
  • At least 5-8 years of experience in a research-focused role, ideally within the energy sector or related fields.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing comprehensive research projects and teams.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and legislative and regulatory policy advocacy.

Compensation:

A competitive salary between $100,000 and $130,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications, plus comprehensive benefits. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement to accommodate flexible work preferences.
