Transportation

The U.S. transportation sector is on the verge of a major transformation, providing a unique opportunity to design its path forward. If we are proactive, we can build a sector that is more energy-efficient, safe, productive, clean, convenient, and accessible for all.

Transportation Advocacy

The FAST Act, the current surface transportation authorization bill, was granted a one-year extension to September 2021 as Congress negotiates immediate COVID-19 relief. With this deadline approaching, the Alliance and the 50x50 Commission issued a set of policy recommendations for Congress, including opportunities for high-efficiency vehicles, innovation and R&D, and improving efficiency in mass transit and ports of entry. With negotiations heating up, the Alliance is driving transportation efficiency efforts by engaging with Hill offices and submitting letters of support and testimony to the transportation committees.

The 50x50 Action Network has also been working this year to respond to the COVID-19 crisis. With the transportation sector's proven benefits for job creation and resiliency, our team is advocating for the inclusion of 50x50 priorities in any upcoming stimulus measures, thus helping us to build back better.
