Resolved: To Be More Energy Efficient in 2006
Washington, DC, December 22, 2005 – Here’s a new wrinkle on the New Year’s Resolution idea: Do the right thing for the economy, the environment, and national security by being more energy efficient in 2006 – and lower both your energy bills AND your federal income tax burden!
Thanks to user-friendly web pages in both English and Spanish from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Alliance to Save Energy, consumers can take maximum advantage of new federal income tax credits for energy-efficiency home improvements and/or for purchasing fuel-efficient hybrid-electric vehicles. The web pages were produced as part of the DOE-Alliance Powerful $avings campaign to help consumers lower their energy bills at home and on the road and help the nation lower its overall energy use.
The information is available in both English and Spanish at www.ase.org/taxcredits. Click on “En Español” for the Spanish version.
Federal income tax credits for energy-efficiency home improvements are available starting January 1, 2006, through December 31, 2007. The tax credits for hybrid-electric vehicles begin January 1, 2006, and phase out for each automaker once it has sold 60,000 qualifying vehicles, or by December 31, 2009, at the latest.
