Today a diverse group of organizations unveiled a new campaign to engage and involve state and local leaders in achieving the Energy 2030 goal of doubling U.S. energy productivity by 2030.  The Alliance to Save Energy’s (Alliance) Energy 2030 On the Road state and local campaign launch took place at the annual gathering of world leaders in energy efficiency, the EE Global Forum.

“Energy 2030 On the Road is an education and awareness building campaign – but most of all it is an action campaign.  To achieve the goal of doubling our nation’s energy productivity we must galvanize action at all levels of government, in businesses large and small, and in homes across the country,” said Alliance President Kateri Callahan.

"By achieving the Energy 2030 goals, we can save American families up to $1000 a year on their energy bills and add an estimated 1.3 million jobs to our economy that we desperately need. Energy 2030 On the Road is a common sense campaign that all sectors, parties, industries, and organizations should get behind," said former Governor George Pataki, Counsel at Chadbourne & Parke and Founder & Chair, Pataki-Cahill Group and Energy 2030 Leadership Circle Co-Chair.

Over the past few months, the Alliance initiative has garnered support from public and private sector stakeholders at the state and local levels with campaign stops in Seattle, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Ann Arbor. Additional stops were announced today with the goal of securing endorsements and garnering support in ten target cities by the end of the year. 

“It’s incredibly exciting to see how the campaign has developed since the first On the Road campaign stop in Seattle. To date nearly 100 organizations have endorsed the Energy 2030 goal. I look forward to seeing the groundswell of support for energy efficiency policies from around the country that will materialize as a result of this creative campaign,” said Jorge Carrasco, General Manager and CEO of Seattle City Light and Energy 2030 On the Road Leadership Circle member.

“As a Leadership Circle Co-Chair, I believe the greatest value of this campaign is the potential to bring state and local officials, businesses, universities, and other stakeholders together to endorse the Energy 2030 goal and demonstrate for our policymakers a national, shared commitment to doubling U.S. energy productivity, regardless of geographical or political diversity,” said former Governor Bill Ritter, founder and director, Center for the New Energy Economy, Colorado State University.

The Energy 2030 web portal, which went live as part of the launch, will broaden the scope of reach beyond the targeted campaign stops, engaging advocates nationwide. The site serves as a platform for interested organizations to endorse the Energy 2030 goal, access resources, and share their energy efficiency success stories.
