Senate Funding Plan Protects DOE's Energy Efficiency Investments
WASHINGTON—The Alliance to Save Energy released the following statement from Vice President of Policy & Research Daniel Bresette regarding the Senate energy and water appropriations bill, which was advanced by the full Appropriations Committee today:
“Businesses and advocates have championed federal programs that help us use our energy more productively, and this bill shows our voices have been heard. This bill will cut energy costs for consumers and businesses, save energy in federal facilities, improve the competitiveness of U.S. manufacturing and reduce pollution. We’re optimistic that the department will get the resources it needs to ensure the nation’s energy is used more productively, and we urge Congress to act promptly.”
“A big thank you to members of our Honorary Board of Advisors on the Appropriations Committee, who worked to deliver this result: Honorary Board Chair Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Honorary Vice-Chair Chris Coons (D-Del.), Honorary Advisor and Energy-Water Subcommittee Chairman Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), and Honorary Advisors Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska).”
The Senate Appropriations Committee’s report on the Energy and Water Appropriations Bill calls for modest increases in funding for the Advanced Manufacturing Office, Building Technologies Office and Federal Energy Management Program, and level funding for the State Energy Program, Vehicle Technologies Office and Weatherization Assistance Program.
