Alliance Welcomes Dan Brouillette's Confirmation as Energy Secretary
WASHINGTON—The Alliance to Save Energy released the following statement from President Jason Hartke in response to the U.S. Senate confirming Dan Brouillette to be Secretary of Energy:
“I want to congratulate Secretary Dan Brouillette on his confirmation. We look forward to seeing him lead the department. He knows energy policy and is well respected, and I commend him for earning bipartisan support.”
“Secretary Brouillette has a big job ahead, with choices that will have impacts on Americans every day. Under his leadership, we hope to see the department do more to fully capitalize on the opportunity of energy efficiency and the benefits it can provide in lowering energy costs, reducing carbon emissions, and creating economic activity.”
“We specifically hope he can take a fresh look at energy affordability and embrace tools like updating appliance and equipment efficiency standards – which have fallen dangerously behind under this administration. By faithfully implementing these policies, the new Secretary can help ensure we realize the huge opportunity to save people money. Billions of dollars back in the pockets of working Americans are on the line. The country needs Secretary Brouillette to remedy this backlog and deliver on the pledge he made at his confirmation hearing to meet the department’s legal obligations.”
“In addition, we also hope Mr. Brouillette will work to better position the department to conduct timely and predictable research, development, and deployment activities and fully staff critical efficiency programs.”
