Missouri River Energy Services (MRES)
Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) is a not-for-profit joint-action agency serving 60 member communities in the states of Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Each of our 60 member communities operate and own their own municipal electric utility and electric distribution systems. These members are owned by the customers they serve. The electric distribution system and the utility in each community is owned by the citizens of the community and regulated by a local citizens board. Subject to state open meeting laws, customer-owners have a say in the operation of their utility.
MRES is governed by a 13-member board of directors and one alternate who are elected by and from the ranks of our member representatives. Each member of the MRES Board is also an appointed or elected official of the member city he or she represents.
MRES is dedicated to supplying its members with reliable, cost-effective, long-term energy and energy services in a fiscally responsible and environmentally sensitive manner. MRES is an extension of its members, and through joint action, members will remain competitive while enhancing their relationships with their customers. MRES is dedicated to powering its strong municipal communities.
